Florence at Studio Meringue
Here are just a couple of the new cards I will have available this weekend at Vintage Roost. This will be the last 2 days that Vintage Roost will be open until the opening before Mother’s Day. Hours are 10-5 on Friday & Saturday, Feb. 10th & 11th. The shop is filled with wonderful gifts, cards, posies and sweets.
Today was the first day of Vintage Roost’s Valentine show. I stopped by to look at all the sweet items for sale and took some photos to share with you.
I will have my new series of Valentine cards for sale at Vintage Roost in February. Sending Valentine cards is a wonderful way to surprise someone who is special in your life and when you just don’t find enough time to tell them how you feel. I thought that along with photos of my new cards for this holiday, that I would include a couple of sentiments that you could use to write inside your cards.
This Valentine arrives to say that you will always hold a special place in my heart!
Your friendship is tucked into my heart like a Valentine! Happy Valentine’s Day.

Vintage Roost is finishing up its Winter Opening this weekend. Open 12/9 Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-5, you don’t want to miss this Christmas Spirit filled little shop. New this weekend: Creamy wool hanging mittens and stockings fashioned with vintage trims and buttons, a new batch of Paperwhites potted in surprisingly fun vintage containers, a freshly built batch of Old Fashioned Snowmen, Apple Cinnamon Pull Aparts, Beautifully iced Christmas Sugar Cookies! Plus fresh greens: wreaths, cedar baskets, swags, centerpieces, and more….

While there are still a lot of leaves on my neighbors Walnut tree, there is a carpet of green, yellow and brown under it. With a certain chill in the air, Winter is on its way! And Vintage Roost has the enchantment of our Winter Season ready for you to enjoy. Opening Saturday November 19th, the Roost will be open Fridays & Saturdays 10-5 until December 10th. Here are a few things that Studio Meringue is offering at the show. Most of Studio Meringue’s cards are priced at $3.00 each. My art journal cards which feature more hand crafting features such as sewing, stamping, and added ephemera are $4.00 each.

There are a variety of holiday themed gift enclosure cards available. Enclosure cards come in sets of 4 of one design @ $2.50 and singly in a glassine envelope@ .75 each.

My neighbor has a Walnut tree in their yard that we enjoy the shade from during the Summer. For quite a few years I’ve watched to see what day that all its leaves fall, because literally it happens in a time span of one or two days. It happens in November and if not on its own it’s helped by the first frost. A couple of times right around Veteran’s Day I’ve sat in our window seat and watched the leaves fall like snow.
At the present time there are just a few gold leaves on the tree, so we’ve got a few more weeks of green!
Studio Meringue has a Fall line of cards and below are just a few that should remind you of the clear crisp days ahead of us.
Every September the little town of Tangent, Or. has a Harvest Festival. Their Fire Department puts on a Pancake Breakfast and this year I enjoyed their table decorations. Starting out an early Fall morning at their breakfast in September is a nice way to get into the spirit of the season.
The birds are enjoying this Sunflower that came up as a volunteer in my backyard.
Speaking of birds, I watched a great documentary about a Crow study being done at Washington University. Did you know that a grouping of Crows is called a “murder?” Also, the difference between a Crow and a Raven is the size, a Raven is larger. My new series of Art Journal Cards pays homage to the Crow.
A friend of mine said this photo looks like pumpkins at a Crow concert!
I love the colors in this photo. The dahlia itself is a magnificent work of nature and it reminds me of a fireworks burst, but the cloth in the background lends a few complimentary colors that bring nice nuances to the whole photo.
This summer my brother had a garden filled with wonderful flowers, tomatoes and various berries. I took this photo at the end of the season when there were just a few Raspberries left.
Area Quilt shops are having a “Shop Hop” this month and The Quilt Loft in downtown Albany is on the map for it. Studio Meringue has a collection of “sewing themed” cards, gift bags and gift tags for sale at The Quilt Loft. Below are a couple of examples.
This is a card photo of the quilt my Grandmother Westerman made for me, waaaaayyyyyy back in 1958! I’m surprised it’s still in one piece! There is not one stitch done on a sewing machine. Truly handmade.

The Studio has been a buzz these last couple of weeks, getting ready for the Spring Open House at Vintage Roost. The Roost opens April 29th and will be open Fridays and Saturday through May 21st. Also, Karen at the Quilt Loft in downtown Albany has graciously let Studio Meringue have a small display of cards, page markers, blank journals, and tags in the theme of sewing and quilting in her shop. Thank you Karen!
I have made cards and other items from photographs I’ve taken of the many, many beautiful flowers that surround us, here are just a few of the sundries I’ve worked my photos into while working in the Studio this Spring.

The Blue Primrose card above is something new in the Studio line of cards. It contains a photo sewn onto accent pieces then placed on a blank card.
You’ll find Studio Meringue Gift Bags for sale, they include tissue so they are ready to wrap and give.
These blank paper journals are just the right size to fit in a purse or pocket. They come with a new pencil and are ready to write down the things that you don’t want to forget! They include a little pocket on the back cover to hold list’s, photos, coupons or anything you need to keep with you…
